FAQ's

Common questions about booking therapy, waiting lists, and fees at Bucks Family Network.
Please note we do not offer student placements or internships.

How do I book an appointment?

Booking is simple. You can browse our team of therapists on the website and book directly through their individual profile links. Alternatively, you can contact us via the contact form, and we will match you with the therapist best suited to your specific needs.

Is there a waiting list?

No. We pride ourselves on offering immediate access to mental health support. Unlike many  services, we do not have long waiting lists. In most cases, we can arrange an initial appointment within a few days of your enquiry.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. Most of our therapists offer secure online video sessions (via Zoom or Teams). This is a convenient option if you have a busy schedule, mobility issues, or simply feel more comfortable in your own home. We also offer telephone counselling.

Where are you located for in-person sessions?

Our therapists work from various locations across Buckinghamshire and the surrounding areas, including High Wycombe, Maidenhead, Chiswick, Slough, and Thame. Please check individual therapist profiles for their specific clinic locations.

Do you offer placements for student counsellors?

We receive many enquiries from counselling students at Level 4 and above seeking placements. Please be aware that Bucks Family Network is a network of independent, qualified private practitioners.

We are sorry but we do not offer placements, internships, or supervision for trainee counsellors.

We are unable to support student hours at this time and wish you the very best in your studies and future career.

Please contact YES in High Wycombe as they currently offer student placements.

What types of therapy do you offer?

We offer a wide range of therapeutic approaches to suit adults, children, and couples. These include:

  • Person-Centred Counselling

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)

  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)

  • Play Therapy & Integrative Arts Therapy for children

  • ADHD Coaching & Neurodiversity Support

  • Trauma-Informed Therapy

Do you work with private health insurance?

Some of our therapists are registered providers with major insurance companies (such as BUPA, AXA, Aviva, and Vitality). Please check with your insurer and ask your chosen therapist directly about their insurance status before booking.

Do you support children with SEN / Neurodiversity?

Yes. We have specialist child and adolescent therapists (such as Justine, Jenny, Sandy, and Tracey) who have extensive experience working with neurodiversity, including Autism and ADHD. We work to support both the young person and the wider family unit.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that life happens. However, we generally require 48 hours' notice for cancellations. Missed appointments or late cancellations may incur a fee. Please check the specific policy with your individual therapist.
